Winter is officially here!

Happy Holidays to all!

After a couple of nice indian summers in the upper midwest, winter is finally showing up in Southeast Wisconsin. Like all Type A's, a winter project is in order to break up the winter doldrums, work and P90X! After deciding a new tender was in order for the upcoming sailing season, I spent a week looking for wooden boat building plans. Of course it began with a google search, some links to you tube and finally the website for spira international, which is www.spirainternational.com. There are many nice boat plans found on the site for a nominal fee as well as thorough instructions on building your own boat. Since I have never before built any sort of boat and have very limited wood working skills, I decided to build the back bay (stitch and glue) pram. I purchased the plans for $50 and downloaded them to my laptop from the spira international website. I spent about an hour studying the plans and am headed down to Home depot today to pick up the materials. I plan to video document the entire process as well as keep track of time and material expenses. The build time is listed at 12 hours but I am thinking it will take me a bit longer than that. We will see. In the meantime, enjoy the holidays and your families!!
