February-March news

Good evening,

I have been a little lax on posting lately due to my crazy busy schedule these last months. I totally did not get a post done on skate skiing like I said even though the conditions we had here this year in Wisconsin were epic! Suffice it to say I love the sport of Nordic skiing but am very much a beginner at it.
The Jeanneau Fantasia I bought and posted about has been sold and let's just say my streak of wins on boats came to an inglorious end on this one. The boat market in general is in the dumper and there is VERY little demand for 27 foot boats on Lake Michigan, rightfully so. I ended up letting her go for a song but it is time to move onward and upward. No hot prospects yet on the next boat but that is likely to change- I will keep everyone posted.
On another front, we are booked in late January 2015 for a 7 day bare boat trip around the BVI. I am super excited for this one as we are hosting our brother and sister in law for their first BVI experience. Over the years, I have hit most of the BVI hot spots but there is always something new to discover there.
We ended up booking with Moorings and there will be a full report on the entire process from booking to trip completion with them. Their website and information are decent and the 25% down program seems fair. Their customer service has been spot on so far and we hope it stays that way. We are setting aside a fair amount of money for the 9 day trip (7 on the boat) for four people which we hope will be adequate. The boat rental, food and toy fees alone are $6500 but $6100 with my US Sailing discount-- the remainder will be used for hotel, airfare and fun. In the meantime, it is time to look at possible itineraries and once again Google earth makes this easy. As we are still in discussion mode at this time, I will not bore you with leg details. Have a look at the photo below and see for yourself, any input is certainly welcome. Enjoy and have a great week!
